Sonoda Update of time in Spokane :)

I was enjoying reading the Sonoda's blog and saw they had updated a note about their time here with us in Spokane.  Thought you would all enjoy :)

Spokane

We drove to Spokane after our time in Yakima. We got to see and stay with friends from the church we were a part of in our college days. It was a very special and encouraging time. James and Yohan had a great time. We stayed with the Schneiders, where there was an abundance of toys and fun kids to play with. One of the boys, Alek, was very sweet and patient with James, causing James to latch onto him. It took James a while to learn his name, and tended to simply call him, “the boy.”
The leaves were beautiful and the Schneider kids taught the boys how to play in them. They got so dirty and had a blast. While the kids played in leaves we had a “get to know you” time with the church. We hadn’t realized it would mostly be a “get to know us” time. They all asked great questions and it was fun to share with them.
On Sunday Jonathan shared at the church. It’s always overwhelming to meet complete strangers and find out they’ve actually been praying for us. James and Yohan were not interested in staying in the nursery. But after church James was quite taken with the “nursery girl.” He kept looking for “abla” (older sister) and wanting to hang out with her.
After church Jonathan played football with the kids and some young people from church. Its exciting for him to get to play football, even if it’s just in a backyard. He’s tried to teach our youth how to play football, and it’s not that successful.
The kids watched Finding Nemo in the afternoon.
Spokane was a very refreshing time.
Jonathan’s grandparents are in Boise now. We had seen them in Oregon and they had traveled around with us quite a bit (I call them our groupies). The boys have gotten used to them and James calls them Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma (even if it is a mouthful). When they arrived yesterday Yohan yelled and ran to them to give them hugs. It was pretty cute.
